Description
Lets explore the scenic and historic Jeep trails around Ouray CO and the San Juan mountains.
Trails range from very easy to “get your heart racing”. (Black Bear) Stock 4X4’s can do all the trails in the area except Poughkeepsie Gulch and Black Bear. Those trails require two lockers and / or high clearance.
A typical day for Peggy and me is to hold a drivers meeting at our house at 9:00am. Then off to the trails. Lunch is on the trail. We usually return about 4:00pmish. Then we all gather on our deck, have a potluck dinner, drink beer, and tell stories. Next day do it again.
There are many “non-Jeeping” things to do in the area. Peggy and I can guide you to our favorites. Also, we must include Peggy’s “Cemetery Tour”. Yep, Peggy does a great presentation about the history of Silverton and Amimus valley by touring the Silverton cemetery.
Book accommodations early. Hotels, VRBO homes, RV Parks fill up very quickly. Here are websites that will help you. https://www.colorado.com/co/ouray/travel-information-services/chambers-commerce
