Maura and I have friends who want to go along with us on a medium offroad adventure. Since it's also my birthday, and I don't want my wife to plan anything big, I chose a Death Valley excursion as a celebration. But, Maura doesn't camp, and the hotels inside Death Valley are outrageously expensive. We have reserved rooms for ourselves Saturday night at the Shoshone Inn, about an hour north of Baker. The club has camped just outside Shoshone before, while Maura and I stayed at the Inn, so if anyone is so inclined, that is an option. The Shoshone Inn is full, so Bruce has reserved a room in Pahrump.
Bruce and I have several excursions mapped out in the area. These include deadman's pass, and Queen of Sheba mine.
The plan is to be flexible, see how washed out the roads are, and how long our friends last.
