It was posted some months back that John "JKA" Alkema passed away after battling cancer for about 2 years. His wife Linda has postponed an official memorial until it can be done safely, but has agreed to a small gathering to dedicate a memorial to John in the desert.
Bruce donated a fire hydrant. Dan donated a steel plate for a plaque, and welded some posts on the hydrant. I had everything sand blasted, powder coated, and engraved. A neighbor helped me set the base with steel and concrete. But, the original event was delayed due to high desert temperatures.
We should bring easy ups and chairs. Bring whatever you think John would have wanted you to drink. Linda will provide lunch. Since we will be in the desert, feel free to add other events that work this in.
The Husky Memorial is a little north of Kramer Junction.
Car must be OK with gravel.
